How Image Duplicates Work
How does Facebook detect duplicate images?
Facebook uses perceptual hashing (pHash) algorithms that generate a fingerprint from image pixel patterns. Even renamed files with the same content will match. The EXIF Stripper tool can help reset these signals.
What similarity score is safe to post?
Aim for below 60% similarity between listing images. Use our EXIF Stripper to strip metadata and reset pixel hash values, or apply minor crops, color adjustments, or brightness changes using any photo editor.
